Creating Sisterhood Through Birth

Nurturing doula care for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

A Gentle, Whole-Person Approach

Pregnancy and birth are not meant to be walked alone. From the beginning of time, women were surrounded by other women—guiding, encouraging, and strengthening them through labor, birth, and the days that followed.

At Segulah Wholistic Center, I am honored to become part of your village. Supporting mothers is not just a service to me; it is a calling. I am here to mother the mother, to stand beside you with calm, steady support, and to help you walk through this season in peace and confidence.

My desire is that every woman I serve experiences sheluma refuah—complete, holistic healing and wholeness in body, mind, and spirit.

What a Doula Does

A doula is a steady presence—someone who supports you emotionally, physically, and educationally throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

I support you by:

  • Helping you understand what is happening in your body

  • Offering comfort techniques and coping tools

  • Supporting your partner so they feel confident helping you

  • Encouraging and reassuring you during labor

  • Helping you process your birth experience afterward

  • Helping you heal during postpartum

  • Supporting through Holistic Care

A doula does not replace your medical provider. Instead, I walk beside you, helping you feel prepared, informed, and supported.

Common Questions

When should I hire a doula?

Ideally, you’ll want to hire a doula as early in pregnancy as you can. This gives us time to get to know you, understand your birth preferences, and build trust and comfort. Many families reach out in the first or second trimester, but it’s never “too late” to connect. If you’re further along, we’ll simply tailor our support to where you are in your journey right now.

+

What is the difference between a birth doula and a midwife?

A birth doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support, but does not provide medical care or make clinical decisions. Doulas focus on comfort measures, advocacy, and helping you feel calm, informed, and supported before, during, and right after birth.

A midwife is a medical provider who monitors your and your baby’s health, performs exams, orders tests, and catches the baby. Midwives are responsible for your clinical care and safety, while doulas focus on continuous non‑medical support. Many families choose to have both on their birth team.

+

How do doulas work alongside partners or spouses?

Doulas never replace partners—we help them feel more confident and involved. We can suggest comfort techniques, explain what’s happening, and hold space so your partner can focus on loving you. Some partners are very hands‑on; others prefer a quieter role. We respect all dynamics and help you function as a calm, connected team. Our goal is to support the whole family, not just the birthing person.

+

Do you offer support for planned hospital births and C-sections?

Yes. We support births in a variety of settings, including hospitals, birth centers, and home births (with a qualified medical provider or midwife present). Our role stays the same: to offer continuous emotional, physical, and informational support so you feel informed, calm, and respected. We also help you navigate conversations with your care team so your preferences are heard as much as possible in your chosen setting.

+

Are virtual services available if I'm not located in Houston?

Yes. We offer virtual doula services for families outside our local area or for those who prefer remote support. Virtual care can include childbirth education, birth plan coaching, emotional support, on‑call access around your due time, and live support during labor through phone or video. We can also provide virtual postpartum check‑ins to help with recovery, infant care questions, and emotional wellness after birth. We also offer travel doula care to other sates (fees apply)
